One of the earliest recorded instances of the name Enze can be found in the 12th-century Annals of Hildesheim, a chronicle of events in the historic town of Hildesheim, Lower Saxony. The Annals mention an individual named Enze von Wohldenberg, a minor nobleman from the region.
