The name Hooman originates from the ancient Persian language and can be traced back to around the 6th century BCE in the region of modern-day Iran. It is derived from the Persian word "hoomaneh," which means "kind" or "benevolent."

In the Avestan language, one of the oldest Iranian languages, the name was spelled as "Humana" and was associated with concepts of wisdom, compassion, and virtue. It held a prominent place in the Zoroastrian religion and was often used as a name for priests or scholars.
