The surname Adamick originated in Poland, where it first appeared in the late 17th century. It is a variation of the more common Polish surname Adamczyk, which is a patronymic derived from the given name Adam. The name Adam itself is of Hebrew origin, meaning "earth" or "man of the soil."

The earliest recorded mention of the Adamick surname can be found in church records from the village of Adamówka in the Silesian region of Poland, dating back to the late 1600s. At the time, the name was spelled "Adamiczek," which later evolved into the modern spelling of Adamick.
