The surname BEIKMAN originated in Germany during the 13th century. It is derived from the Old German words "beik", meaning bend or curve, and "man", referring to a person. This suggests the name initially referred to someone who lived near a bend in a river or road.

Early records show the name was concentrated in the central and southern regions of Germany, particularly around the towns of Mainz and Frankfurt. Variations in spelling include Beickman, Beikhman, and Beykman. The name does not appear in the Domesday Book, as it postdates the Norman conquest of England in 1066.
