The surname Brozik originated in the region of Bohemia, which is now part of the Czech Republic, sometime in the 13th or 14th century. It is believed to have derived from the Czech word 'broz', meaning 'beetle' or 'chafer'. This suggests that the name may have initially been a nickname given to someone who had some association with these insects, perhaps someone who worked in agriculture or forestry.

One of the earliest known references to the name Brozik can be found in a manuscript from the town of Litomerice, dated to the year 1382. This document mentions a certain 'Petr Brozik', who is believed to have been a farmer or landowner in the area. The name also appears in several other medieval records from various towns and villages across Bohemia, such as Plzen and Domazlice.

In the 16th century, the name Brozik was particularly prevalent in the region around the town of Stribro, which was known for its thriving mining industry. It is possible that some individuals with this surname may have been involved in mining activities during this period. One notable example is Jan Brozik, born in 1547, who was a respected mine overseer and is mentioned in several local chronicles from the time.

By the 17th century, the name had spread across much of Bohemia and could also be found in neighboring regions of the Holy Roman Empire, such as Silesia and Moravia. In 1687, a certain Vaclav Brozik is recorded as having been granted a coat of arms by the Emperor Leopold I, suggesting that the family had attained a certain degree of prominence and status.

In more recent times, one of the most famous individuals to bear the surname Brozik was the Czech painter Vaclav Brozik (1851-1901), who was renowned for his historical and allegorical works. Another notable figure was the Czech composer and conductor Bohuslav Brozik (1879-1952), who was particularly known for his operas and choral works.
