In the 14th century, there are records of a Francik family living in the village of Łagiewniki, now a district of Krakow. This family was involved in agriculture and owned several parcels of land in the area. One notable member was Jan Francik (c. 1380 - 1445), who served as a magistrate in Krakow and was involved in local politics.
