The surname HANZAWA is of Japanese origin, originating in the 14th century during the Muromachi period. The name is derived from the Japanese word "han" meaning "half" and "zawa" meaning "swamp" or "marsh", suggesting it may have been given to someone who lived near a partially drained swamp or marsh area.
