The surname MARUMOTO is of Japanese origin, first appearing in the late 16th century during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. It is likely derived from the words "maru" meaning circle or round, and "moto" meaning origin or root, possibly referring to a circular or rounded area of land or a specific place name.
