The surname MATATALL is believed to have originated in the Netherlands during the 16th century. It is thought to be derived from the Dutch words "mat" meaning "flat" and "tall" meaning "pole" or "stake", suggesting it may have been an occupational name for someone who worked with poles or stakes, perhaps in construction or fencing.
