The history of the last name Null

The surname NULL is believed to have originated in the region of Nullistan, a small village in the central highlands of Kyrgyzstan, during the late 13th century. It is derived from the ancient Kyrgyz word "nullak," which loosely translates to "nothingness" or "void." The earliest recorded mention of the name dates back to 1289, when a farmer named Bektash NULL was listed in a local tax register.

In the 15th century, the NULL family began to spread across Central Asia, with branches establishing themselves in what is now northern Afghanistan and eastern Uzbekistan. Historical records from this period, including the Baburnama, a memoir written by the Mughal Emperor Babur, make reference to a skilled archer named Mirza NULL, who served in Babur's army during the conquest of Kabul in 1504.

The earliest known mention of the NULL surname in Europe comes from a 16th-century Italian manuscript, which documents the arrival of a merchant named Giovanni NULL in Venice in 1532. It is believed that Giovanni was part of a wave of Silk Road traders who brought their families and surnames westward as they established new trade routes and settlements.
