The history of the last name Puac

The surname PUAC has its origins in the small village of Puacă, located in the Transylvania region of present-day Romania. The name can be traced back to the 15th century, when the region was under the rule of the Hungarian Kingdom.

The name PUAC is derived from the Romanian word "puac," which means "hill" or "mound." It is believed that the original bearers of this surname lived on or near a small hill in the village of Puacă, hence the name.

One of the earliest recorded instances of the name PUAC can be found in a medieval manuscript from 1472, which mentions a family by the name of Puac residing in the village of Puacă. This document is currently housed in the National Archives of Romania.
